membership grants

Your support of the Wanaka Snowsports Club enables us to help our aspiring young athletes.

Each year we have two grants to help athlete members meet their full potential.  Grassroots and Northern Hemisphere grants.

GRASSROOTS GRANT

WSC’s Grassroots award is for WSC members who are Primary School children [School Year 2-Year 8 inclusive]. It is to assist families to enter their children in snow sports development programmes in the Wanaka area.

Snow sports programmes improve children's alpine skiing techniques, develop freeski /snowboard park and pipe skills, develop cross country skiing techniques and encourage safe development of freeriding techniques.

Grassroots is paid directly to Cardrona / Treble Cone or Snowfarm, the Wanaka Snowsports Clubs development program providers.

It is important that all applicants read and understand the current Grassroots Policy, especially the volunteer roles and applicants requirements prior to applying.

The club has distributed in excess of $125,000 dollars to primary school aged children through the Grassroots programme since the programmes initiation with five children in 2013.

A number of WSC’s previous Grassroots children have represented NZ in the Northern Hemisphere in age group and open competitions for alpine racing, freeskiing, free riding and snowboarding. Past Grassroots children have gained selection to NZ Teams, one as an Olympian, and other less competitive children continue to enjoy snowsports as a their favourite winter pastime.
